CHILLI PEPPER FARMING


 The history of chili peppers dates back to at least 7,500 BC. The earliest evidence of chili peppers comes from archaeological sites in Mexico, where they have been found in the form of seeds and pollen. Chili peppers were also cultivated by the ancient Maya and Aztec civilizations, who used them for both food and medicine. After the Columbian Exchange, chili peppers were introduced to Europe and Asia, where they quickly became popular. Today, chili peppers are one of the most widely used spices in the world, and they are grown in many different countries.  Chilli is the most important crop in Bhutan.

The earliest evidence of chili peppers in Africa dates back to the 15th century, when they were introduced to the continent by Portuguese explorers. Chili peppers quickly became popular in Africa, and they were soon being grown in a variety of countries. Today, chili peppers are one of the most important crops in Africa, and is grown in over 30 countries.

Growing Season per Year: Twice on rainfed and thrice on irrigation

Nutritional Value: Chilies are rich in Vitamin C and it also helps in boosting the metabolism.
